On Rt 830, west of town, on the curve just before the present day I-80 bridges, was the Wagon Wheel. It sat on the right side of the road. There is a ranch home there today. As you can see it was a gas station, garage, small store. You can see it's namesake on the front of the building. I remember it burning down, probably in the early '60's. Not sure if it was still open for business at that time or not. Maybe some of our.....more seasoned....members can shed some more light on the subject. The photo has to be '49 or later, as the car is a Ford from '49 - '51.

Holly Marsh I think last operated the Wagon Wheel. We lived down the road towards Falls Creek. I can remember a couple of times gathering up pop bottles and pulling my wagon out there to redeem them for a few cents and then spending the money on a soda or candy bar. Holly's dad operated a stone quarry out on the east side of the B & O Dam or what is now Kyle Lake. Kendall Perrin lived in the farm above the store. The Pierce family lived in a house next to the Wagon Wheel which burnt down. At one time there was a saw mill below the store along the creek which is where the name Red Mill came from. East Washington Township's Election House was on the original road which went up over the hill before it was cut off by the building of the interstate.
