Having grown up in Falls Creek during the hey day of Rock n Roll, just wondering what y'all think of the music today compared to the music of the 60'and 70's. Lots of fun just cruising around, and finding the best reception on the ol' AM RADIO,which is all we got way back then! I always had to wait until late night to hear my favorite music(soul),because local stations refused to play it(wow, weren't we behind the times)!!

Well, if you look at some of these young kids wearing AC/DC shirts, or the stone's shirts today..........that should pretty much answer the question. There aren't very many bands with longivity anymore that can consistantly put out good music. They are all angry and sing about killing someone or cuttin up a hoe. They need to put the peace sign up in the air and go back to the good days and sing about love, truth and the pursuit of happiness..

I hate to alienate any potential younger members, but as far as I'm concerned 1985 was pretty much the end of any music worth listening to, in the rock and pop areas anyway. The decline started with Disco, and even though it didn't last, the damage had been done.
Those AM radio days were a part of life that I'm really glad I got to experience. WCFL, CKLW, WLS, WOWO, WABC, WNBC, 13Q and those great DJs, true radio personalities. Guys like Cousin Brucie Morrow, Don Imus, Wolfman Jack, Dick Biondi, Larry Lujack, to name a few.

WLS, man I used to listen to that station whenever it would be clear enough to hear.

Watched American Idol tonight with Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder performing live, of course they were great. Those guys, and their music, are timeless.... Couldn't help but wonder though if today's acts, like 50 cent, Kanye West, or Snoop Dog, will be performing on one of the top TV shows in the nation, and wowing the country, forty years from now.... I highly doubt it.

Nothing like the old black groups and their dance routines. The temps, 4 tops, spinners etc. What an era, what incredible memories. I loved the high pitched voice range of Eddie Kendricks. There were many of them in the 50-70s. I don't know if it is the competition or the lack of quality, but it seems like today's rock/modern music heroes are hard to find. They all have ADD and can't stick to task to write more than 3 albums. I think country western music is alive and well even though I am not a big fan since Waylon passed. We need a Falls Creek summer music festival held in center field of the federation league field. Left side down could open, Lessor Arcana could be the closer.

I watched an old "Roy Orbison" special a couple weeks ago where he sang all his greatest hits and had accompaniants like bruce Springfield Bonnie Rake and other great musicians. It was excellent! My daughter went out and bought me his tape and I listen to it at least a couple times a week. Talk about nostalgia!
