I think Falls Creek is unlike other towns. Perhaps it's a victim of change in our culture. Would like to see individuals taking more pride in their homes regardless of it's price range. Cleaning up and keeping things neat costs only effort and elbow grease. I Would like to see an annual folk festival in park/ ball field area and perhaps a parade again. Wow . I don't want much do I?

Not really lj.... I think we all want the Falls Creek of our youth, or at least all the good parts.

I think our old town is doing just fine. Take a ride around town and you will see people are fixing up there homes. Yes there are some that need fixing ( I think there are alot of rentals ) but it's getting better. We got new developments going up, haven't had that since Hollie Terrace. The playground and park look the best I've ever seen. Now if we can just get some more business's in town, that would be great.

Bravo Jim!!!! A creeker to the end. I tend to agree with lj myself, but I agree with mister administrator as well. We all want the town of our youth, and those days unfortunately are gone forever for us.....but hey, the generation coming up will probably have the same comments we have when they are grown.

Improvements in Falls Creek? Back in the 1890's the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburg Railroad ran their line up along the stream of Falls Creek and looped it over the stream and back down the other side heading out along the upper ridge of Wolfe Creek and up Harvey's Run to Grove Summit. Around 1910 they abandoned this loop chosing to run across the mouth of Falls Creek and the lower valley of Wolfe Creek and over McMinns Summit. G. A. Gocella appropriated portions of the track for his quarry operations from Harvey's Run to Falls Creek. During the We Poke Along Days some one decided to use federal funds to build a park in the area of this loop. While it was cleared and leveled it never developed and it was fenced in to become Snell's Junk Yard. Jimmy Snell got caught up in the construction of I-80 and soon after closed the junk yard and sold off the old cars as scrap which ran almost up to the borough's reservoir.
Cleaning of the reservoir a couple of times add fill to the area below the dam. Preston Trucking opened a terminal on the back part of the property which it operated for years.
Eventually the State Police Barracks was constructed and Preston's went out of business. Now Goodwill Industries has moved into buildings there.
Several houses along Route 830 have been remodled following the installation of sewage lines in this area and ones connecting part of Wahington Township. Some new houses have been built in the area as well. A trucking company opened in the old Gocella quarry area.
Outside of town on the Reynoldsville road the old brick plant is virtually gone now replaced with powder metal company which for the moment is doing well and employing local people. It descended from a company opened originally in Hick's Garage.

Just wondered what the official snow total was for the winter. Everytime I called back home, Mom said it was snowing, or they just had snow. Anybody know? ?

We did not really get any good storms this year. But the snow we did get lasted a long time. The weathermen kept calling for storms but were wrong every time. BTW, I mean a real storm, a foot or more. We could have used several 2-3 foot storms.
