No, no!....lol....I'm not that old... ;D
The thrill rides took place in the 70's. There were some old mine cars scattered around the entrance to the mine, and there was still a couple hundred yards of tracks left, almost up the hill to the remains of the tipple. It would take several people to wrestle one of those old mine cars back onto the tracks, then it was a little bit of a chore to push the car, uphill, to the end of the tracks.
It didn't take much of a shove to get them started back down the hill. They would pick up quite a bit of speed on the way down to the shaft entrance, where a bunch of broken and derailed cars would stop the car from entering the mine. The usual routine was to jump off before the crash. That was pretty easy in the daytime, but somewhat of a challenge at night as the old tracks were pretty well shrouded in Hemlock trees, making it extremely dark.
Better than going to the fair, any day..... ;D ;D

Oh, my gosh! Take a gander at those old cars! How cool! What area would that have been near? Looks like the 'Bonnie and Clyde' era!

Come on now shadylady, you had to ride around the back roads of Beechwoods at one time. Before you branched out to dating those big city guys from DuBois.... ;D I'm sure that on one of those rides, even though you may not remember it, you drove on the Daugherty's Mine Road....
