Does anyone remember Hick's old garage, the one that was just torn down by McDonald's?

I looked at the Hick's garage all my life. I remember when Owen Hicks was running it. Then Gary Arblaster ran it as a service station.

Yes I do. In the sixties when I was in grade school we used to stop there almost every day on the way home from school. The gas pumps used to be under an overhang roof on the Main St. and 3rd. St. side. the main entrance was under the overhang to. When you went in the front door the cash register was to the left side and there were two glass front counters ,one to the left and one straight ahead . Had candy bars in the left hand one. Auto parts in the other.Used to put dimes in the gum ball machine to win a gum ball with stripes on it, That would win you a free candy bar.Could have bought the candy bars cheaper then what it cost to win a striped gum ball. When the machine shop moved into the building they bricked in the overhang. Can't remember what the name of the machine shop was.

Clyde Hicks ran the gas station. He lived out by rockdale ranch. His son, Gene if I remember right was killed in a private plane crash. His widow married Jim Grant who writes for the Courier and is a retired math teacher from Brockway. When Sam Arthurs left the Exxon Station he set up shop on the back side of the garage for awhile. Originally the garage was the Chevrolet dealership in Falls Creek. The glass rooms towards the Veteran's memorial was the showroom.
