Thanks for the pictures Eastman... .......I hate to see another landmark disappear, but the building had fallen into poor repair. That place was a Falls Creek landmark for many decades. In my life it was an Esso station run by Chub Caldwell & Chuck Crawford before it was taken over by Pete Park and turned into a Phillips 66 station. At one time it employed 2 full-time mechanics...Clarence Bish & Ron Caine, Larry Collins worked in the lube/wash bay, and a local teenager worked Saturdays & evenings...I remember Gary "Duncan" Spinda and later Sam Arthurs. It was the gathering spot for many an old, and even some young, storytellers.

Two edged sword this one. Hate to see it go, hate to see it stay as it was an eyesore. Wonder what will take it's place. I hope they put something there instead of another parking lot. They may as well keep on going and tear down old collins and nolder building as well.

It's a shame. another building in F.C. with lots of memories gone. I hope someday someone starts rebuilding something in this town. Spend many a day at that old gas station talking and joking with Chubby Caldwell when I was a little one. Used to listen to alot of bull---- sessions when Pete ran the place. Who could forget Larry Collins coming out to fill your tank and check your oil wearing that plastic safari hat with the Esso logo on the front. And I played many rounds of putt putt golf with Sam Arthur's in between his waiting on cars. Thanks for the picture's eastman ,didn't know they were planning on tearing it down

ahhh, I used to have to go over there, see Chubby and get my dad a can of snuff for 25 cents...My cousin Larry worked there, Then there was Pete, who even came to our house ,he would pick up the car for the inspection, and deliver it back home upon it's completion. He even had a yearly Xmas party... ahh to the good old days. I remember Gay Slayton and her mom living upstairs in the cute little apartment as well.

I remember when Rob and Tina Knouse lived above Pete's, and Rob used to wait for a Snyder guy to go into the Gunny so he could sneak down and steal his gas cap! They had the same color car, Dart or Duster. They shared that gas cap for quite awhile. Maybe they are building Gunsmoke II? Whatever they do build, lets hope it not a museum! My guess is a Dollar Store.

No buyer for the property yet, I do know there has been some inquiries to buy, don't know if the inquiries were serious or not, but they are going to market the land, they like to see an office complex built there. how long it will take who knows. No dollar store that I know of.

Wonder what happened to the old Ford which set next to the building all those years? Anyone know why it remained there all those years?

My grandparents lived in Falls Creek, amd my dad was raised there. As a result, I visited a lot. Where was this gas station located? I'm having trouble placing it..,

When you go over the railroad tracks and up the hill into Falls Creek, it would have been on the left hand side of the road. The Gunsmoke would have been across the street more or less.
