Almost forgot about the pottery. Man, we lived right across from there and everyday at closing time there would be a slew of cars pulling out to go home. What lot of dust!

Shady, you were my next door neighbor................dust indeed!!! I think everybody's china at home came from that fine establishment's "junk piles". Those piles kept lot's of kids busy for many hours in those days. And mr admin......remember the pet parades we had in town. I am not sure if the playground sponsered them or who did. Also the halloween parades.

I vaguely remember a pet parade, don't think I was a participant. But the Halloween parades were a big deal back then....still are I guess. But back in those days the parade was at night, and we trick or treated for at least 2 nights, no set times. We raked in a lot of candy in 2 nights... Of course as we got older we might have thrown a little corn too... How 'bout that Jackson China sign, brucie... I believe it was a 4th of July....right after that Roman Candle blew up in your hand.... ;D ;D There sure was a lot of plate smashing went on down at the pottery. No better way to kill a couple hours on a summer evening than to do it smashing cups and plates....

How about Hack's corner? You had to have a Mo burger! I worked there for a couple years. Some nights it could really get rockin, Sister Golden Hair on the jukebox. Mo gave us somewhere to hang out and I was fortunate enough to get to work and have fun!

Wow, I'm sitting here almost crying with all the old memories flooding back ... Hack's corner, no one could ever beat the high scores put up on the pinball machines by Joe and Pat Shema, and certainly no one could ever beat Pat Knouse's older brother in foosball! I remember playing with the gang in the piles of china outside Jackson China and making "mudballs" from the white mud in the ponds near the tracks. It was amazing to see the cleanup crews there after the fire with fully encapsulated haz mat suits removing the "white" mud due to the highly toxic nature of the lead based sludge, didn't seem to bother us much as kids ... but then again it might explain a lot about me now!!! I should use that excuse the next time my wife gets on me about acting strangely !!!

That's a good one jimnlin, nothing like a little toxic mud to play with . Kind of like play dough. And who could forget old Mo at Hack' Corner cooking up a hamburger on that grill. Cigarette ashes dropping on the grill. Added a great flavor to the burger. That was a great place , spent many a dollar in there . ;D ;D Oh by the way, welcome to the site.
