This came up on another thread, but I thought it was worthy of it's own thread. It was a big part of the lives of those who attended school there. This was posted by brucie2000...... Mr. Administrator......Hrrrumph You are older than dirt dude!!! Nice photo of the old school. a challange for the masses. Can you name the year the school started, all the faculty and the grades they taught, and what year did this fine facility of my youth quit operating. From my memories: Kindgarten--Mrs Sinclair Grade 1--Mrs McClelland Grade 2--Mrs Shupinis Grade 3--Mrs Ankeny Grade 4--Mrs Showers (my favorite teacher) Grade 5--Ms Smith Grade 6--Mr Gordon wesley Tomb (Also a favorite)
Any body know of any others beside Mr. Gusheroski, please post!!! Reply by klsm54....... Your class was the last to have Smitty for 5th grade, us youngsters... .... had Mrs. Leech.reply by longbeard...... I had Mr Faller for sixth gradeand brucie2000's last post....... Anybody find out when the old school first opened and when the last year of operation? Good memories running up and down the terraces and playing softball on the coal cinders harry winters threw out after he cleaned out the furnace....

Harry Winner was the janitor the first couple years of my time, but was replaced by Bill Tudor.
I can remember Mr. Tudor being the one to come around to our classrooms and tell us that JFK had been shot. I was in Mrs. Ankeny's third grade class at that time.
According to the book......
Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; Her Pioneers and People 1800-1915
by William James McKnight, M.D.
"The schoolhouse in the borough of Falls Creek, a large brick building of 8 rooms, was erected in 1902. The members of the first school board of the borough were, Dr. Jay C. Booher, F.E. Dixon, G.H. Jones, J.C. Abel, J.E. Carrier, and J.J. Lukehart."
I'm sure we can figure out the year it ceased operation from some of the younger members.

When I went - the Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Parks- 1st grade teacher was Mrs. Miller (Betty Miller), 2nd grade was Mrs Shupinus. And that was the last year the school was open. That last was the 1975/1976 school year. Then we were bussed to DuBois.

I've always thought it a shame they can't do something with that building. It just sits there from what I can see when I come home. Is there still a Korean museum in there or whatever it was? Weird.

They're fixing it up teabab. No more Japanese Holcaust Museum. Someone bought it and is living in Miss McClelland's old first grade room. They have finished the new roof and replaced a lot of the windows. Not sure of the plans, but there seems to be hope for the old building now.

Maybe they are turning it into a bed and breakfast? That is a huge scary place to live in. I am pretty sure it is haunted. I can tell you a story when I was a teenager...... My sister, myself, Barb Staley and Debbie Anderson went up there on a rainy night. There were 2 boys sitting on the steps....we asked them why they were sitting there and they wouldn't talk to us. They were dressed in what looked like old fashioned clothes...and looked grey and misty. At this point we got scared and ran like the dickens! We waved our hands at their faces and they just ignored us! I truly believe to this day, we saw 2 ghosts. I still shiver thinking about it! Anyone else see any ghosts at the school?
