It always amazes me where these places get their names. How about crystal falls, or pristine falls, or something like that. How in the world could somebody name something that neat buttermilk falls........it just ain't right.....

Have no idea. I just came across it on a list of Parks in Indiana County and since it was really close to me, I had to check it out.

Beautiful place, nice pictures.... And I'd have to agree, don't quite understand how it would relate to buttermilk. But you know, somewhere in my travels, I've seen other waterfalls called "Buttermilk".....

One of the things I miss about PA is the autumn, small streams, and little waterfalls such as this one. Where I live here, it is the costal plains, very flat with pine trees, tobacco fields, cotton fields (which are very cool when in bloom). We went to Nantahala ntl park several weeks back, 10 miles from Tenn, and 20 miles fro Georgia. It was really beautiful with falls, blue ridge parkway, big smokey mountains etc. It still didn't match the PA grand canyon area, or the poconos, or even cook forest in the autumn. With that being said. I was swimming yesterday in 82 degree sunshine. A little bitey, but really great. So, I kinda have the best of 2 worlds here, but I miss the "true autumns" of PA and I do miss my friends a lot. Buttermilk falls......Hmm
