Okay all you Steeler fans, The draft is coming up soon, what do you think your team will do?
Bryant McFadden is off to the desert and Nate Washington is now a Titan.
Do they need to draft at those 2 positions?
Did this hit assure Limas Sweed a place on the roster this season?

Ok. Let's face it. The steelers are pretty deep all around. Obviously, there are some holes to fill, but they are minor holes compared to most other teams in this league. Limas sweed is a mystery. He made the highlight reel every single week in college by catching a long bomb. Now he's got hands like Dwight Stone. i don't know what to make of it. People say, "well Plaxico had a rough rookie season too, so give it time." But the field hasn't changed, the ball is the same size, and Big ben doesn't throw deep balls any different than Vince Young USED TO, so I don't know what to think. Hines Ward probably only has a couple years left. But I don't think they should go after a WR in the draft just yet. Nate washington can be easily replaced with about any free agent out there, and who knows, it might even be an upgrade in the end. Draft another rookie, and you might end up with 2 Limases(is that plural for Limas?)
As far as McFadden goes, I think you do have to go after a CB in the draft now. After Ike, there's an aging DeShea and an untested William Gay, who has played extremely well when given the chance. But the steelers secondary has actually been a strength recently and I'd like to see them continue that, and not go back to the days of Dwayne Washington, Chad Scott, Willie Williams, and Ricardo Colclough.
Finally, I don't care if they just won the SB, and that they just signed all of their offensive lineman. They're not good enough. They need to draft at least two more in the top 5 picks. Or maybe Willie Parker is the problem. Whatever the case, their run game isn't good enough. Hopefully a healthy Mendenhall is the answer, because you upgrade your run game back to a ball-control, clock eating, shove it down your throat at will type game(aka Jerome Bettis) and this offense could be unstoppable. Yeah, Willie might break one once a game, but watching him run up into the line and falling down like a sack of taters for the other 20 carries is getting old. Bring back the old style run game, and that will only make Santonio even more lethal.
According to the Steelers website, they have nine picks in seven rounds. Therefore, I say they will trade two of those picks away to move up, and the draft should go like this....OL, CB, OL, DL, TE, DL, LB.

Well, the Steelers website poll has the following positions listed.......
Cornerback Defensive End Nose Tackle Linebacker Safety
Don't know if this is any indication of their thinking, or if it is just a whim of some college student who works in the IT department.
As of right now, Cornerback is leading with 48%, ahead of Defensive End at 24%

Some help on the offensive line wouldn't hurt.

I think the steelers did ok. Only time will tell. In tha later picks I kept saying pick the center from Penn State A.Q. Shipley. What the heck , he's worth a try may be another Mike Webster and darn if they didn't . Now if I can get them to pay me for my input ??

I was really glad they picked Shipley. I know it's impossible to predict how a prospect will do when he gets to the NFL, but I think Shipley could be the next Steeler to continue the Steeler tradition of great Centers. A tradition that spanned over 30 years with guys like Ray Mansfield, Mike Webster and Dermonti Dawson. I watched Shipley at the combine and he constantly outdid his predictions. And the guy is smart, really smart. NFL prospects take a test known as the Wonderlic test, an IQ test of sorts. Average scores are around 20, out of 50 questions, in the timed test. Shipley scored the second highest, a 40, out of all the 100's of prospects. One draftee scored a 41. While the Wonderlic test is not the final word in NFL sucess, consider Vince Young, whose career to date may let him top the "worst draft pick of all time" list someday. He scored a 6...
