A long standing fixture in Falls Creek life had been Willar's Market. Jack Willar, another one of those dedicated and hard working merchants that spent a lot of hours in his store, along with his wife Lotus, bought the present building in 1957. Before that it had been a church, a gymnasium, and a community center of sorts.
Something I don't recall though is that before that, The Willars also owned a market in what was once the A&P, on the corner of First and Main. And they also owned the little diner next door to the old A&P. It was called the Greytone Lunch., previously it was Turk's Lunch Room. The Willars sold the diner to a man named Musial.
So for a time, the Willars were running two businesses, simultaneously. No afternoons off to spend on the golf course or days spent shopping for a merchant and his wife in those days. These people worked hard to make a living.
Of course the current Willars Market was bought from the Willars by Ted Felix, who had worked as a butcher for Jack at one time, and still run by Stephanie (Felix) Avery. 2 families running the market in it's current location now for 52 years.
