Does anybody use this software....Open Office.org? It is basically The equivalent of Microsoft Office, only it is free... That's right, not one red cent.... I have always wanted Office on my computers, and paid dearly for it. It is at least $149.00 on a new computer. This program is FREE, and contains all the features of MS Office, including the ability to interchange documents with MS Office. I put it on my laptop a month ago and as yet have found no downside. If anybody knows of any problems, please let me know. It is not fly by night stuff either, it is published by Sun Microsystems. I won't be getting ripped off by paying through the nose, for MS Office in the future. Check it out here..... www.openoffice.org/

I use it at home and so far it seems to work fine. The only problem I found so far is if I copy some text or text and pics from somewhere else then paste it into a new document it puts everything into a table. There has to be a way to prevent this but I have not found it yet. I've been only using it for a month or so. For a free program so far so good.

I'll play around with it if you let me know. I'm sure there is a fix.

Hmmmm??? I just opened a new "Writer" document, the "Word" equivalent. I inserted a photo from file, I copied and pasted a photo from the internet , and I copied and pasted text from the internet....I even moved them around...no tables. I don't know pensrock. Did you use a table at one time and change a setting? I'm not playing with the tables, don't want to screw mine up... ;D

It is in the Word program. I have found if I use 'paste special' it will work but if I try to just use 'paste' or CTL + V is pastes it into a table. Weird.

I just highlighted and right clicked....copy....paste.....you know the drill. I never used those options before even in Word. Not even sure I'd know how... I'll have to check it out......... ........and I did. I pasted both Text and a picture, using "paste"....still no tables.... I guess I'm not much help... It is definitely not a default setting though, so it's most likely something simple. Of course finding it may not be so simple....
