I am new to this site. My Grandfather was raised in Falls Creek, his father owned the Hotel Evergreen. He told me it burned down in 1929 or 1930. The only pictures we have are the postcard pictures. I would love to see more if anyone has any.
Also my Great grandfather worked for Adrian Furnace. My Great Grandmother worked for Jackson China.
These folks I am referring to are all Reeds. If anyone has more info or pictures I would love to hear from them. Thanks. Josh Woods.

her name was Sophia Turk Reed, she married William Reed, his fathers name was John L Reed, I think.
She passed away in 1999, she almost made it to her 99th birthday. She was a sweet lady.

Where was the Holtel Evergreen at? I never heard of it. Funny the more I come on this site the more I learn about a town I grew up in! There were Reeds that lived on Washington Avenue and they had a son John Reed. He would be about 54 now.

I am not from Falls Creek, However the hotel sat on the corner of Jefferson Ave. & Tannery Rd. There is a small tan house sitting there right now, which belonged to my great Grandmother.
My Grandfather tells me the house is sitting where the kitchen of the Evergreen hotel was.
As for our John Reed , he is 89.

Welcome to the site jwoods. I lived in on Jefferson Ave for most of my life. I knew Sophie Reed very well and remember her husband Bill from when I was a youngster. I wish there were more pictures around, or that I had access to, of the Hotel. I guess there was a small restaurant, or possibly the kitchen you mentioned, that sat next to the hotel, towards where Alvetro's sits now. I guess it closed after the hotel burned and my grandfather, William Scott, tore it down in '32 or thereabouts. He stored the lumber on racks off the ground and covered with tin for over 30 years until he used it to build a new house in '67. The sidewalks from the front of the hotel are still there and until just a few years ago there was a hole in the ground from the basement of the hotel.

Hello klsm54, thanks for the feedback. I am told that one of the men sitting on the front porch of the hotel postcard is my Great grandfather.
It's interesting that the lumber from the site was recycled. I do have some old pictures that I need to scan & post. I have one from the 1940's I think, it is my Grandfathers gas station, I believe it sat where the post office sits now.
This site is great. jwoods

The gas station I though was owned and built by Fred Turk so I was told? Would Sophia be Fred's sister? Fred is 95 now.
