Anyone out there got any stories or pictures of the softball tournaments that Herb used to run back in the 70's. I can still smell the onions and hot peppers cooking on the grill. Those hot dogs with onion's and peppers were the best dang dogs I ever ate. I remember we would sleep out at the park to watch the concession stand. There were plenty of brewski's that bit the dust on those nights. Bob Anderson was there one night and he kept tossing and turning and his feet would hit the garbage can. He woke up and asked if that was thunder he heard, That is how Bob Anderson became known as Thunder Anderson. When the concession stand would start to slow down old Herb would pour some woosie sauce on the grill and the smoke and smell would drift over the crowd and in about two minutes we would have a dozen people at the stand wanting food. Good times indeed!!

I was too young then to hang with the older guys at the concession stand, but we used to run the scoreboard for the tournaments. We thought we had a real important job. LOL

You did have an important job Pennsrock. What was your pay for sitting in the hot sun? If memory serves me correctly it was 25 cents!!

I remember the tourments well. My self, Herb and Dean Willar organized the first tournment. It was a change for Falls Creek. They didn't allow playing ball games on Sundays. We also sold a little beer on the side at the consession stand. Darios Bar won the first tournment. We all celebrated with Darios at the Falls Creek Eagles. On Saturday we run out of food at the consession stand and Gunsmoke Bar ran out of food and beer. I guess you could call that a great economic boom for FC. (Joke) I could tell stories for hours about the Britton Roofing Softball Team but not now.

I remember the year we sold pretzels for a buck. Sold a bunch of 'em too. Could have been the "free" beer we gave away with each pretzel... ;D
A lot of good times at those tourneys, for sure.
