Any business closing is sad, and certainly not good for our local economy. But it is really dad when the closing ends an era, and the existence of a business that started and grew locally.
Trail Kings closing ends what was once Ti-Brook, a truck body manufacturer that started and grew in Brookville to become a force in that industry.....Sad...

Trail King Industries announced today that it will close its Brookville operation.
Trail King President Carol P. Lowe stated that "The decision to close the Brookville facility was not taken lightly. It is very difficult to shut down an operation with skilled and dedicated employees. We are very grateful for all the contributions made by the Brookville employees over the years. We will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality trailer solutions and will add capacity when our end markets demonstrate sustained growth beyond the capacity of our Mitchell and West Fargo operations."
Trail King, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carlisle Companies Inc., will consolidate production into the company's Mitchell, S.D., and West Fargo, N.D., plants.
Brookville will operate with a reduced workforce through Oct. 31 to complete existing orders and to assist with the transition of production to Trail King's two other plants.
Officials said the action is driven exclusively by the current challenging economic conditions.
In May, Trail King said it was shutting down the Brookville plant for three months. In March, it announced layoffs affecting 120 workers.
At its peak, Trail King's Brookville plant employed 319 people. In May, that number had dwindled to 101.
Trail King Industries is a specialized trailer manufacturer producing trailers ranging in load capacities from 6,000 pounds to 1 million pounds serving a wide variety of applications for the construction, transportation, agriculture, waste and recycling, rental and specialized hauling markets.
