Wow! It would have been one of the biggest moments in golf history if 59 year old Tom Watson could have pulled it off... So close, it really is a game of inches. If Watson's approach on the 72nd hole lands just a few inches shorter, he wins his 6th Claret Jug, and is 11 years older than any previous major winner. But the shot trickles off the back, leads to bogie, and a heart breaking 4 hole play-off loss to Stewart Cink. Oh well, it was another fantastic finish at the Open, that's for sure.

Yes it would have been great to see Tom win at 59yo.

Yes we almost saw history in the making, It would have been awesome if Tom Watson would have won, But alas it was not to be. Unfortunately for Stewart Cink as the sports headlines have been saying When people are asked who won the 2009 British Open they wont remember. All as they will remember is what might have been.
