It's not like you remember it I bet! It's so much nicer now. Remember when they had the merry go round. The boys would push it so fast to see who fell off, or threw up!

Falls Creek has a darn nice park, something to be proud of. It really always has been pretty nice, for the times. My fondest memories are back in the days when the School District ran the summer programs at the playground. They hired college students to supervise and come up with activities. There was a big wooden box, that was stored in the basement of the school during the winter, full of all kinds of games, sporting equipment, etc. There was something going on every day, M-F, and even in the evening once or twice each week. We even traveled to other playgrounds to play softball. I know, times are different, and it wouldn't be feasible today, but it was great while it lasted. As for today, I doubt there are many towns the size of Falls Creek that have parks as nice as ours....

Do you mean the department store where Miller Brothers is at now?
If so it was the FBC store. Family Bargain Center. There was one in Bradford also, maybe others too.

I remember FBC, but also remember the 'Flying Eagle' racetrack across from the Eagles. Races every Sunday evening. 1/4 midgets. It was a pretty popular sport back then. I don't know if they race them anywhere near here anymore, or not...

What about the place that sold all the plants up near where Miller's is now? I used to buy a lot of shrubs etc. there? And, of course you can't talk about Falls Creek without getting into the Tannery and the swimming holes which were named, 'The 1st 2nd and 3rd!' And how about those railroad tracks we walked along the way? Also, behind Willars there was some nice little walkways to go if you wanted to sneak a cigarette in that you knew you'd get in trouble for if your parents found out. In my day the park was a place to meet your boyfriend!

I just remembered the place that sold plants...Alvetro's. And does anyone remember the dry cleaners tthat was on the corner right past the railroad tracks? They used to pick up and deliver. My mom lost a green dress along the way and they couldn't find it and one day months later, she stopped in to drop off some clothes and there was the lady that was waiting on customers, wearing her green dress! And how about Wiser's store up where John Britton built that big house on the corner on 3rd street! After school we'd stop there and get something to eat. And probably no one remembers Lavilla Fox who lived on short street, across from Jimmy Decarlo's hair studio at the time. She used to take in ironings.

Tony Alvetro will be glad to know that you are putting him in the "Good old days."..... ;D You have to read more threads there shadylady. The Main Street thread got sidetracked and has a lot of Wiser's talk on it, sort of waiting for your words of wisdom too.... ;D I remember Lavilla Fox, but I never knew Jimmy D had a hair studion on Short Street. I learn something every day. Lavilla did seamstress work too. She was there forever....

Yeah, I remember when Jimmy D had the hair studio. It was across from Lavilla's. You had to go up a bunch of steps and it was a small room at the right. My mom used to send me there to get perms! Actually, I think the building is still there.

Anyone remember Ward Trucking Company that sat where Sheetz is now? My dad used to work there for years and I remember every Friday taking my mother in to pick up his check and then we'd go get groceries.
